Sunflowers

Students will learn about the importance of sunflowers to the Lakota people. We will watch a video on the importance and purpose of the Sun Dance and review a powerpoint lesson. Students will learn about the sun medallion that was once worn during the dance.

Using the Elements of Art, students will draw and design their own sunflowers. When all the students put together their flowers, they will create a field of flowers along the wall of our classroom.
